Tetra fish are attractive coloured freshwater fishes of the characin order, Characiformes, often kept in home aquariums. Tetra fish are characteristically small, lively, hardy, unaggressive and native to South America and Africa. Because of their reflective and shiny bodies, tetra fish are popular among aquarists who find admiring them swimming gracefully in the fish tank therapeutic.
